ok get to a breakers yard of buy a new part ! the buy a glue gun and make some fiberglass sheet to make your exstensions . Get rid of the ashtray part then set about making the gauge holder with the fiberglass sheet then when complete bond it to the surround , Then theres several ways to make the mold and none of them will save time LOL my way would be to body fill and smooth all joining parts then use a 2k high build primer (i use reface )http://www.polyfibre.co.uk/index.php?sec=prod&prod=142  you can get a real good finish with it and when you wax it it wont stick plus there will be very little finishing work to your mold after apart from a good polish!

so going back once its primers and sanded use plasticine to creat the exstensions/returns then mold as per

regards jay

Ok i am gonna try to explain this as best as i can.
What i am trying/want to do is extend the surrounding of the shift lever surrounding.
Here is a picture of what it looks like original
http://i39.tinypic.com/2z8rjnt.jpg

The silver area left and right of the shift lever is 1 part, then the ashtray above the lever is a 2nd part.
What i want to do is remove the ashtray, and extend the 1st part and give it a small upward curve.
And make something like this picture
http://i42.tinypic.com/34xev46.jpg

So the question is.
How would i go about creating a mold for this.
The original part is flat so getting that in a mold is no problem.
However the new none existing part is the challenge.

And are there any specific components to use for this kind of work?

Afterward i just do a CF finish( car interior is CF original anyway), which i am already familiar with.

Hope i am making sense.

Thanks
