Hi,

I'm looking to restore this carbon fibre exhaust shield.

My proposal is sand back the sand back the cracked gel/ resin coat and to reskin it with CF, finishing with epoxy top coat.

It needs to be reasonably temperature resistant.

Could i get this done with a starter kit?

Cheers

Yep, that could be done with a high temp skinning starter kit.

You can even buy it with the same plain weave CF used in the original part.

Sand down, and follow the instructions in the skinning video ...

The "restored" part will be stronger and a little heavier than the original part.

Only thing to add is to conduct a postcure on the part to make sure the resin doesnt go soft on its first exposure to heat. A suggested postcure is as follows:

60°C

80°C

100°C

120°C
