Hi
The front tyres of my kit car are fouling slightly on the GRP on full lock. It will gradually wear a hole I expect, so I want to fend it off.
There is a bit of a curve where is is rubbing, is this sheet at all flexible? I would like to try fix it over he area but but worry that this won't bend at all...
Thanks

Hi,
All thicknesses of carbon fibre sheet will have a degree of 'bendability', the main influence being the thickness. If you went with a 1mm wet-lay sheet you would find it very easy to bend round the size of radious that you'll find inside a wheel arch but if you went up to a 3mm pre-preg then you'd find it almost impossible to bend at all.
If this is just a structural exercise (i.e. not cosmetic) and you really want to add some sturdy protection to the inside of the fenders then how about laminating some
175g kevlar cloth
with
epoxy resin
. It would be quick and easy to do and would have incredible resistance to wear; far better than carbon fibre sheet would. Also, you would have no concerns over it fitting around the contour - the dry material would be easy to laminate around any shape.
I hope this helps.
Best regards, Matt
