Hey guys,

I know this is off topic, but I didn't know which section to post this in...

I am going to be in England from March 15 - March 20, staying in London. While I'm there, I'd love to come check it the EC premises, but Google says it is a 7 hour trip each way via public transport. Is it easier than that or is it just that difficult to get there via public transport from London?

To be completely honest, it's probably cheaper and quicker to hire a car and drive there! Probably looking at 2 1/2 -3 hrs each way traffic depending.

And/or take a detour to Birmingham and check out the museums etc and make a day of it

Hmmm, sounds like it is a bit difficult to get to. I was hoping Google was telling me lies and it was just a quick 1hr train ride. It isn't worth me getting an international drivers license for just that, I won't be driving anywhere else. Might have to give it a miss then unfortunately.

It's nearly 300km!

Do you need an international licence? When I wen to Aus (OK 10 years ago) I didn't need one for a short trip it was only if I was staying/driving for months that I'd need one.

I don't know whats happened to the train services lately but you used to get a regular 2 hour train service from london to birmingham. Then it's only 1 hour to Stoke on Trent then a 10 minute taxi ride from the station to our premises.

Sometimes the trains go straight through to Stoke with no change at Birmingham.

I'm in Aus, these distances seem small to us! Tongue

Warren, thanks for that mate, that may be doable. I guess I'll have to find out when I get over there, I just can't figure out a train schedule online.

I know they are small in comparison but no matter how you look at it 300km is not an hours trip!

Hey all,

Was hoping someone might be able to help me plan my trip. I WAS going to be in England from the 15th-20th of March, but Matt informed me that EC would be unlikely to be running a training course in March. So, I've decided to reshuffle my trip so that I can attend the February course.

So I can get to Stoke-on-Trent by the 11th and I'll sort out accommodation, that's fine. However I have got tickets to watch FC Bayern play HSV at the Allianz Arena in Munich on the 14th at 3:30pm, so I need to be back in Munich by then. I've done a quick search, and it certainly isn't easy to get back to Munich from England!

How hard is it to get from Stoke-on-Trent to Luton? I can get a 7:30am flight out of Luton on the 14th and that should be fine, if I can get there...

Stoke on trent station to luton airport is about 3hrs on the train (3 changes) but you'll have to stopover in the airport, there's a late on that gets in a 1.30am to the airport but thats the last one that will get you to the airport on time
