I have been working for a customer/friend on a new shell for his hill climb/sprint car. The plug is based on a Reliant Kitten shell. The new additions have been built up from ply and Kingspan boards followed by a layer of 450 CSM. A week of applying and sanding filler has resulted in a nice flat surface ready for 2K high build primer followed by 2k direct gloss. Then I shall start adding flanges, it will require an eight piece mould plus wheel arch returns. The final shell will be done in full carbon.

The shell in primer with the bonnet is 39kg, door with hinges, latch and perspex is about 3.5 kg. 

So with paint, screen, rear window, both doors and a bit more here and there on the inner flanges its gona be about 60 kg as the old one was about 120 kg. I think I've used a fair bit more carbon than I needed, but wanted a strong job.
