Hi,
I need to make a male plug to make epoxy parts from without a mould as it's the inside face that needs to have the finish. Can I finish this plug using the ec pattern coat resin and then use epoxy gel coat and resin to make part or will I release issues as the pattern coat is polyester based?
Thanks
Craig

Depends what release system you use. I make epoxy parts all the time using polyester moulds, and they virtually slide off using Frekote 700. I have had parts stick back when I was using wax/PVA system, though that was before I started spraying PVA. If you can spray PVA then you shouldn't have any issues, the problem is if you get a spot where for whatever reason the PVA doesn't cover it.
Chemical release agents are the go.

thanks for reply hanaldo,
normally use easylease followed by a couple of coats of wax help to help keep the gel coat in place. Do you think this will work out ok ??

Yeh I think you will be sweet mate. The wax actually raises the surfaces tension and makes release harder, but I don't think you will have any issues with sticking.
