question gloss finish release agent

Group: Forum Members Posts: 8, Visits: 12	Hello I would like to the parts to have a high gloss finish, can easy lease chemical release agent do that ? Question is how high gloss is that ? like a piano gloss ? or something like the attached ? How hard is the finish ? scratch prove? can the scratch be easliey buff off by polishing it ? Thanks

Group: Forum Members Posts: 2.5K, Visits: 28K	The gloss will mainly depend on your mould surface. Then yes, easy-lease will give you a nice gloss finish. Epoxy isn't scratch PROOF, But it quite durable. It will mostly buff out yes.

Group: Forum Members Posts: 8, Visits: 12	I'm using alumimun mould now, so surface wise should be fine, but what about "sand holes" ? or air bubbles ? Is this agent thick enough to cover them up ? Also parting line on the mould , the perssure of the autoclave will push what ever there is to those line Thanks

Group: Forum Members Posts: 2.5K, Visits: 28K	Well without seeing your mould, it's hard to give advice. But knowing semi-perms, no it won't be 'thick' enough to fill things. The easy-lease as I understand it is a sealer and a release agent, but when one talks about sealers you are talking on a microscopic level. Anything that can be felt or seen, won't be covered up. As for the parting line, I'm assuming your mould is a split mould? If so, then yes, the parting line will be visible. But depending on your mould, your split line should be very close to perfect, in which case it's just the resin that will take that shape and it can be buffed out.

Please see the attached photo of one of the mould I have The shape of my parts are usually a box type. how's the process of applying this easy-lease agent ? clean the mould----spray on easy-lease( in dusk free room I guess ) --- wait for 4-5 hours @60 degrees or so to cure ----- lay on prepreg material-- autoclave process If this is true then I wounder how the easy lease release agent stick to the carbon ? It should be releasing both side.. the mould part and the carbon part ? correct ?
