Hi Guys
I was just about to put an order for 500ml of Easy-Lease Release agent and was hoping the postage price would not be too steep. You can imagine my shock at the price being over £20!!!
That makes the 500ml tin cost £40 w00t
Is there no way you guys could just pop small items in the post? The price for posting an item under 1kg should be around £3+p&p
Don't have post going out every day anyway?

Thanks
This is probably in the wrong place anyway but Bonkers postage prices to NI are a common problem with companies who are tied in to one courier and refuse to use any other method even for small parcels, eg Royal mail or Hermes.

Just a bit disappointed to find EC are among them.

Only certain couriers will take hazardous goods though, royal mail and hermes are NOT companies that will.

Ah well I guess I'm lucky I have a good local supplier for most of what I need. I will just keep on using them for my supplies. I would like to try Easy-lease but not at £40 a bottle.

Unfortunately the shipping costs for Dangerous Goods to NI are unavoidable.

Technically you are not allowed to ship DG via Royal Mail in the post which has knocked out the cheaper option for DG.

Almost ALL of the couriers treat NI the same as Ireland and as a seperate European country regardless of it technically being part of the UK.  This means they will charge the Eurozone rates for shipping DG which are more than UK mainland rates.

We use several couriers here to ensure we can reach most places in the world and we aim to use the cheapest option for each individual parcel.

For DG, sending to NI can also lead to shipping delay as many of the ferry companies have limits for the quantities of DG they can have on each ship meaning it is common place for the courier companies to send limited numbers of trucks only on certain ferries.

Unfortunately these costs and delays are beyond our control.  If there was a cheap and easy way to send to NI and Ireland then we would almost certainly use it as we have many customers both north and south of the border.

Thanks for your reply Warren, I understand the difficult position you are in, it is that wee stretch of water between us that causes the problems.
The only courier I know of other than Royal mail which doesn't surcharge to NI is Collect+ but I don't think they don't do pick ups, not sure about dangerous goods.
As I said in another thread I will wait until I have a bigger order so the postage will be less of an issue.
