Hi guys,

I'd like to skin a side mirror with CF and use a vacuum bag to make sure that it formed tightly onto the side mirror. When using the peel ply, it leaves a rough texture so that i can bond another layer, but I just need a nice smooth surface. I saw that there are some release films that say they leave a glossy finish. Can I use this instead of the peel ply? Any thing to watch out for when using a perforated release film?

I would expect that my materials would be in this order:

plug, carbon fiber, release film, breather, vacuum bag.

Is that correct?

Yep, that'll work fine. Only thing to look out for is perforated release film can leave a slightly rough surface where the resin forms bumps in the holes. Easily sanded off though so not a problem.
