Yeh you can generally tell when it's gonna turn out ok or not. Good luck!

Excellent

Many Thanks again Smile

I'm sure to be back, I really enjoyed the process, but had a feeling before i even lifted the mould that it would be touch and go due to the run off of gel.

No, wait until it is tack-free. So you can touch the surface and it feels tacky, but doesn't come off on your finger.

Excellent,

Thank you, I will try the multiple coats, should I wait the 2.5 / 3hrs to apply second, third coat or can I apply after say 30min when its sufficiently stiffened so as not to disturb the previous layer.

Thanks again

You can't change the ratio, no. You can apply more than one layer though. Generally the best way to go about making a part with lots of vertical areas is to do two thinner layers.

You could also add some fumed silica to thicken it up, though I think you can make it work as is.

Hi Folks,

New to carbon fibre and tried my first cast using the epoxy mould making kit, when i mixed and applied the green gel it was pretty runny and when it dried it had ran off the object i was making a mould from.

Can I reduce the raitio to make it a bit thicker or can I add multiple coats as its drying to thicken it up.

When i released the mould the gel part was so thin that it had cracked, thinner than a eggshell.

Any Help advice greatly appreciated.

Tony
