Hi,

I'm new to carbon skinning, I made the first pieces yesterday and I'm about to do the first layer of resin.
Thoses pieces came from a BMW Interior. I need to do some cutting like vents, etc ... Do I need to do it before the resin or after ?
How ? With a cutter ? Thioses cuts need to be really precise. Won't it be too hard with the resin ?

Thx,
Lioh

It depends how precise. If fitting isn't too critical then wait until the end.  Otherwise after the first layer of resin at the de-nib stage, you can cut them then and subsequently as you add layers of resin, it will thin around those hole edges both naturally and due to sanding.

Thanks for your reply Warren.
It is quite precise (i think). I'm just afraid of going there with a Dremel. Do you think with an small cutter it will work ?

Just be careful with a small cutting disc and remember cut about 1mm short, then finish off with hand files to ensure the edge is nice and neat.
