Hi Guys
I was watching a youtube video of a German company building gliders (sailplanes)
They were mixing a adhesive that they were gluing the wings together with.
I am assuming that it was composed of my guess)  Epoxy/ flox/ cabasol/ milled glass fibers.
If anyone knows for sure I would really appreciate the formula.
The ingredients and ratio please.

Epoxy plus milled cotton fibers. Addition of aerosil/cabosil is sometimes considered optional.

Actually there is no official mixture ratio, it is usually mixed by eyeballing it, at least when smaller amounts are needed. The colloquial German name is "Mumpe", if you want to google it.

I found one mixture ratio mentioned in a repair manual, but it doesn't seem right, way too much aerosil:

100 ppw resin
38 ppw hardener
20 ppw cotton fibers
10 ppw aerosil

I found the youtube video of a german glider factory tour and they came out and said they used the same resin as they make the glider out of and mix in cotton flox to thicken the mixture until its like porrage. They then put it into a plastic bag, cut a hole and then dispense like a cake maker dispensing frosting.

The standard resin nearly all of the German glider and small aircraft manufacturers use is the blue one, Epikote MGS L285.

The name might have changed a little (or maybe not since it's such an established brand name), the original German manufacturer (MGS) was bought by Hexion (that's where the Epikote comes from), which then became Momentive and in 5 years they will probably change their name once more...

Very nice material, unfortunately only fast hardener is still available to the public thanks to the chemophobia of our lovely European Union. If you have a business you can of course still buy them all with no hassle, just don't get caught reselling it to the general public in larger amounts. I really like this resin a lot, it's a bit more expensive than all the standard laminating resins but not prohibitively more especially when you buy larger amounts from distributors and volume discounts become available. This is only valid for Europe of course, I know that it is quite pricey and in occasionally not available in the US since it has to be imported from Germany. Courious to say the least, since Hexion/Momentive is based in the US.
