Hi guys,
Yesterday I started making a mould and only went as far as gel coat and first reinforcement layer but then something came up and I had to leave in a hurry. By the time I came back, the mould was already cured and rock solid. I was wondering it I can keep on reinforcing the mould with subsequent layers even after the gelcoat and first layer have cured? Would it delaminate? It's a pretty big part and I've used quite a bit of material even this early so it would be costly if I had to start all over again.
If it's of any significance, the gel coat and resin used is polyester.
Regards,
Stan

I'm using chopped matt so the surface is already pretty rough. I think sanding it might actually make it smoother lol

I would rub it up a bit with some sandpaper to give the new layers some mechanical grip, clean it up...

As far as I know It shouldn't be a big problem... It is of course always better to work wet in wet....

As suggested above. You need to remove the wax from the surface if you want a decent bond. Warren
