How to applying meguiars no 8 to get shinny carbon parts

Group: Forum Members Posts: 59, Visits: 606	Hii guys, I have working with carbon fibre parts over than a years but I've still strugle to have a shinny mould and also the parts, I mean after demoulds. I never buffing the wax when make a mould or parts (leave swirl), to emerge the shine surface because based on my experience "shine surface" would be hard to demould. My mould is made from epoxy gel coat, and the process is resin infusion using epoxy resin. Soo, how to apply meguiars no 8 to get a slippy demoulds process and shinny composites parts? Regards Leon

Group: Forum Members Posts: 61, Visits: 871	This is how I wax my molds. I use 3 pieces of cloth. The 1st for applying the wax around the mold. Then with the 2nd I rub it until most of it has been removed and with the 3rd I rub it until it's glossy. I repeat the whole process 3-4 times.

It is quick and easy to apply and you can get 8/9 pulls from the Mould before you have to re apply it. Attached is a picture of a part straight from the Mould after Infusion. Regards Warren Hii Warren, I'm sure that easy-lease will nicely work on releasing part, I have huge curriosity about easy lease. and I've already buy it, but unfortunatelly it realy difficult to ship from Uk to Indonesia, because the regulation not permited liquid material to get pass the custom "they said hazardouz material", even Fedex and TnT would not to help. The pict attached is great shiny parts.. I've a bad cases when trying to make my own easy lease, I use a sillicon liquid as release agent, then my customer original steel bonnet stick on the mould, It take a 6 hours to pull off the bonnet on incredible damage condition. Perhaps the issues you experienced with the bonnet may be because of the layers of polish/wax/dirt already on the surface of the bonnet from use and not with the wax you applied. Group: Forum Members Posts: 61, Visits: 871	Before applying wax you should use polishing compounds for making the mold as glossy as possible. The glosier it is the easier it will demold. After buffing the release wax the surface will be even glosier and demolding is preaty easy. However it depends on how complicated is the mold.For complicated parts I use also pva as an insurance.

Regards Warren Wooww great, yes it would be many thanks if you can fetch some easy-lease with you. now, I'm during to build my worshop to make a boats with infusion at malang-east java.. If you just ever at this town we could take a drink an talk about composites. I prepare the boonet very carefully and nicely, first I polish the bonnet sufcae, second I applying wax for 3 times then buffing it to emerge the shine, then I apply a clear silicon laquer as a easy-lease for 3 times. it take a one night before the epoxy gel coar applied. Then the terrible things comes, the boonet stuck on the mould, extremely hard to pull off. Regards
