Hello everyone!
I am planning to manufacture a intake manifold for a 600cc 4 cylinder engine using 4 layers of 200GSM 3K twill weave carbon fibre. it will be naturally aspirated and the maximum temperature I expect is 70-80 deg C at the engine head surface. I will use epotec yd 128 as resin and Aradur 140 as hardener and it will be cured at room temperature. My question is whether it will be able to withstand the stated temperature and not disintegrate?
Thank you for your help!

I made my intake manifold in out of autoclave PrePreg and baked it to 120 deg c in my home made oven.
Mine is turbocharged so it needs to be stiff and retain its shape regardless of engine bay temps.... worth mentioning that if your engine bay temp gets much over 80deg c then you will have
bigger issues to worry about anyhow
Carbon doesnt tend to retain or transfer heat so as long as you are not in direct contact with the metal head and have a gasket etc I expect you would be fine.... a post cure in an oven to 80deg c or more will be a must however., hence i cured to 120deg c.

Check the technical datasheet if the glass transition temperature of your resin with the planned curing cycle is higher than the expected temperature. The TDSs from Huntsman are really good. If this....

FYI a trick to keep the intake manifold temperature down is to use a phenolic spacer between the manifold and cylinder head. It's basically a 4-8mm piece of plastic. On my turbo 4 cylinder it got the...
