Hi all,
I've just made a plaster stonecast of a foot as I'm looking to make some custom carbon shoes for cycling.
With appropriate amounts of release coats, does anyone see any problems moulding the carbon around that? Or do I really need to look at coating the mould with pattern coat hi gloss?
I'll be using wetlay to begin with.
Thanks
Rich

The problem with plaster is it's porous, so no matter how much release agent you use you won't get a release from it. Not even PVA can give a release from plaster.
You will need to seal the plaster somehow before you proceed.

Hi Rich, are putting padding in the shoe?
I ask because you could quickly get to a lay up stage by putting some sheet wax over the plaster, would add 1.5mm, you may even be able to put a thin coating of filleting wax over the foot and doing that way.

Not entirely sure VVS but it's been a question I've asked myself. I had completely forgotten about sheet wax, that could be a good solution.
Thanks for the advice!
