Hi iv searched all the forum but cant find what im after.

Im not a complete newb iv been making moulds and wetlay carbon fibre parts for years now.

How ever to make the thickness difference part iv only recently looked into sheet wax, I bought a sheet a failed!

What are the best techniques to lay the wax around curves, eg a mirror cover. Iv been told to cut the wax a fill it? But not sure the best way and how to then get the joint super smooth for gel coat. And iv also read to seal the wax before gelling to ensure it comes out ok.

Sheet wax won't need sealing or release agent before gelcoat, but I would suggest spraying the surface with PVA as you can get a better finish from that. You'll need to do some resurfacing work regardless though, neither of them finish up glossy. 

Made an air box and frame protectors for my mbike using sheet.

it likes single direction curves but not so good on multi direction.

you can help it with a hairdryer but only slightly and its simpler to cut it into smaller pieces and then fillet wax between.

I found if you let the fillet wax cool and harden off you can then gently polish it and get very good joins between the sheet.

You will find it sticks to the gel coat and has to be scaped off leaving a satin finish so you will have to put work into the mould if you want a shine.
