Hi Guys

I have a model which is plank on frame construction, the model was left in a warm room for many years and the planks have shrunk.

I have coated the inside of the hull with resin, and rolled it round to get an even coat, this got the resin into the major splits and sealed the hull.

Now to the outer hull, this has a lot of uneven areas i intend to apply a coat of resin and glass cloth all over the hull.

Do i apply filler (car type) before or after glassing.

Filler sand clean and glass.      Clean glass sand filler sand.

Which way round ???????

Regards

Mark

Doesn't really matter, but depends a little bit on what resin/filler you're using, and what you intend to do after?

If you are painting it, it's probably not going to matter at all. Often car body fillers are self-priming, so they will be ready for paint straight over the top. They are generally also easier to sand than fibreglass, especially if you are using epoxy resin. You could just use a fibreglass reinforced filler, though I'm assuming there is a reason you want to do both filler and glass?

Hi Hanaldo

Thanks for your reply.

The reason for the question is that the hull is like a mini plowed field, the planks are all over the place, the glassing is to stabilise the planks and stop them moving in the future, will fill and sand before glassing so only light sanding before the paint job.

Thanks for your help
