Group: Forum Members Posts: 68, Visits: 285	hi guys just wondering where i can get a wide roll of carbon fiber? im new to this stuff so im not sure what type i should get but as far as i know it should be 2twill, right? initally its for making a bonnet for a fiat coupe but i plan on doing alot of other stuff so the longer the roll the better. the car itself is 1.7m wide so i will need a roll probably about 2.2/2.5m wide, can this be got? thanks, Cole

Group: Forum Members Posts: 2.5K, Visits: 28K	The widest roll I have come across is 1.5 metres, so I think you're going to struggle to find something 2.2/2.5m wide. However, is 1.7m the width of the bonnet or the width of the car? I would be very surprised if the bonnet was 1.7m wide, that is huge. Especially on such a small car, that would be almost as wide as it's wheel base surely! Measure the bonnet accurately, see if you come in under 1.5m. If not, you'll be a bit limited in your options. You could use 2 pieces of fabric to cover it, with a join in the middle. Then cover the join up with a racing stripe or some similar effect. OR, you could do a v-weave alignment, if you feel up to the challenge

Group: Forum Members Posts: 68, Visits: 285	thanks for the reply, the car itself is 1.7m wide and if you look at the car the bonnet extends down the side quite a bit. i didnt realise using 2 peices was an option, ill be painting mine anyway. do you have a link to the 1.5m roll?

Not many cars will have bonnets wider then 1.5m, especially not passenger cars. 4x4's and vintage era cars may do, and there's probably a select few cars that will, but I'd wager yours is under If you're painting it anyway then you won't have an issue, there's no problem using 2 or more pieces. Group: Forum Members Posts: 363, Visits: 3K	The 1.5 and 1.25m wide rolls are always more expensive as they need bigger machinery and typically have a shorter production run compared to 1m wide rolls. Also don't forget for the 37 quid its per linear metre not per square metre, given 1m wide is typically 20-25 per m, 37 is about right. Dont forget the price breaks for quantity, bring it down a bit.
