Hi
I'm fairly new to casting resins i normally stick to metal but have decided to give some water clear figures a go. I'm using water clear polyester resin along with additional cure rtv silicone moulds. the problem I'm having is that although the moulds are perfect the resin is drying with a wrinkled surface, i have tried different ratios of catalyst and different tempratures with no luck :-/ has anybody had the same trouble and found a solution?

thanks

You will find with polyester resins, any surface open to air will cure with a tacky finish and may wrinkle as you have described.

If the wrinkling is on the resin in contact with the mould surface then the possible causes could be moisture in the mould, or over catalyzing the resin leading to high speed curing and heat distortion of the resin.
