Hello,

How to get the anisotropic properties ,(D1111, D1112, D2222 .... etc) which are 21 engineering constants , for composite laminate.

are these the elements of ABD matrix???http://www.talkcomposites.com/Uploads/Images/acebc57b-0082-4ea1-a284-6b7b.jpg

This tensor is for general anisotropic linearly elastic material. thats why the number of independent elastic coefficients are reduced to 21.

these are mostly used to define the anisopropic nature of the material. but my confusion is that how to define them for a composite laminate (multi layer, multi oriented material).

For a single unidirectional ply these constants are defined by engineering constants i.e moduli, and Poisson's ratios. But how to defined them for a composite laminate or in other words how these 21 constants will reflect the number of plies and respective orientation of plies.

Most FEM codes require these constants to be specified for anisotropic material. but i dont know how to get them.
