I want to make a deck for an H format quadcopter. What I had in mind was to use two pieces of 2mm carbon fibre flat board, 450mm X 120mm wide. I would glue strips of wood, 16mm X 6mm around the edge and maybe two strips up the centre length ways, with the other board on top, giving me a sandwich aprox 20 mm thick. I was going to use epoxy resin as the adhesive. Or is there a material that would be better than wood? Any advice will be regarded with interest.

Have to agree with both Warren and Fred. I would go.

2 x 200grm Carbon
10mm Closed Cell Foam
1 x 200grm Woven E-Glass or Carbon if cost is not an issue.
10mm Closed Cell Foam
2 x 200grm Carbon

This will give you an very strong, very stiff and very light board with a nominal 20mm thickness.
And as Fred says you can use a Dremmel to make pockets for your fittings.

Just remember to score and pierce the Closed Cell Foam ( if using Infusion ) in order to let resin through to the first layers of Carbon. Or buy the ready scoured/drilled stuffSmile
