I have been working on an aircraft repair. The plane is constructed out of some kind of a core that I have never seen before.

The best description I can give is that it looks like cardboard looking through it from a cut panel edge of it. It has 2 skins one outer and one inner with long open cells going through the length of it exactly like a cardboard box material looks. Another description would be that it looks like coroplast sign board.

I believe it is vinylester and glass. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Alumalite?

Whatever it is, it sounds like a unidirectional corrugated core.

Thanks, I took a look at Alumalite and it looks the same only my sample is definitely glass fibre resin formed in a concave mold.

Could it be some sort of prepreg sheeting?
