I used it yesterday laying up the final layers on the molds, worked ok but a bit unusual to remove the air under the CSM.
Ok, I did a compression molded laminate with 1,4 coremat with 2 layers of 200g 2x2 on each side and got a very strong and light sandwich,
buy I will follow your advise and go for foam, I have lots of bonocell and diviny cell.

Coremat will be fine upto a max of 100C when used in mould making to add thickness while saving using fibreglass.
I certainly would NOT recommend coremat in ANY carbon part as it is a very low performance core that soaks up a lot of resin. Better core materials are not that much more expensive and include
Closed Cell Foam Core and 2mm Lantor Soric.
