Can I use white polystyrene to add modulus to part but not "soak up epoxy"

We have successfully infused components on our race car. A few mistakes but its a great clean way to make parts.

We have used expanded green foam to add modulus in different areas to add stiffness in parts. Works great and does not soak up any epoxy.

But can we use lighter polystyrene white foam and not have the epoxy soak into the foam?

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Polystyrene is resistant to epoxies so will not dissolve if infused with an epoxy resin.

I see no reason why in theory polystyrene couldnt be used as a lightweight core. It is commonly used in Model aircraft for that purpose.
