Vacuum bagging a foam pattern...

I have been making CNC cut foam patterns, in a cheap low density material - and am covering in lightweight woven glass to provide strength to the surface before paint and taking moulds. I have improved this technique by vacuum bagging after laying the cloth and painting on resin, but I find not all of the excess resin is removed, and some small air bubbles remain... This results in ridges of resin where the bagging pleats were, that have to be sanded off. I've been using up the remainder of my epoxy coating resin (I will use infusion resin from now on) but the part is kept warm and therefore even this resin is still fairly viscous.

I could try a "normal" dry infusion on the pattern (it's envelope bagged) but not sure how this is likely to perform given the rough surface under the cloth - alternatively what's the best way of improving flow in the bag? I could use peel ply + mesh but would then have a relatively rough surface to finish, whereas the bag leaves a pretty good surface (apart from the few small air bubbles under the cloth and pleat ridges...
