Thought I'd post in here as been as it's my first post although it is a bit of a project as well.
This is probably the best place for composite knowledge on the internet so hopefully you can help.
Little bit about me, I'm no professional when it comes to composites, up until yesterday I'd never touched a piece of carbon cloth, but I have worked (only as a hobby/cars) with fibreglass and resins etc. so have small base knowledge.
This project all started after seeing the Tronic Wallet on Kickstarter, although I hate that style of wallet (if you look at it you'll understand what I mean). So I thought I'd have a go at making my own.
Basically I'm going to attempt to make a wallet out of Carbon Fibre Cloth, so I'm just looking for any advice, ideas or tips.
Here's a few photos of what I've done so far.
First before I got the Carbon fibre cloth I mixed two solutions of PVA glue up, on normal and one mixed 50/50 with water, then applied them to some small pieces of fibreglass to see how flexible they would be obviously whilst holding all the weave together.

Surprisingly it stayed rather flexible and apart from the blue release compound was fairly clear.
I then recieved my carbon cloth in the post yesterday, I bought a metre of ProFinish carbon fibre cloth as it's already partially impregnated with resin, I hoped this would eliminate the need for the PVA or other flexible resin.

I then cut a small piece spray adhered it to a similar size section of lining material and had a go at sewing it, not expecting a lot as I haven't sewn in about 5+ years I think it turned out pretty well.

I will have a go this weekend at making a full wallet rather than just little test pieces but can anyone give any tips or advice?
Do you think I need to use a thin layer of flexible resin? The carbon cloth alone seems to be holding fairly well.

Welcome! Interesting project youve got there. Not sure if it will work as the weave will get distorted etc. Good luck
