We are performing hand layup method for making composites blocks..and there is always the thickness issue occus...we cannit able to find weather it is caused by no of ply we use or by more amount of resin deposition..

A suggestio  on thus would be appreciable.

thank you

It could be both.  With wet layup if you are not experienced or very careful, it is easy to use too much resin.  That in itself will cause the laminate to be thicker and full of excess resin.  Also some fabrics will compress under vacuum and often this is quoted as the consolidated thickness so its worth trying to find out if your fabrics thickness is based on that, or measured by yourselves.

Good laminators can get better consistency on thickness but also vacuum can help, be it conventional vacuum bagging of a wet lay up or more advanced techniques like infusion.
