Dear all
Don't you have any experience with polishing already sanded carbon? I have done a multi-part bonded assembly, all the parts are prepreg top mirror look surface, but after bonding together there is a necessary to sand all the bonded joints over the fibers because tangency of edges. It means the flanges mirror look are affected by the sandpaper and the surface is not mirror look yet. Is there another way how to polish carbon instead the transparent clercoats (epoxy, 2K-PUR etc.)?
(Similar issue generates a split mould).
Thx, Rosta

Yeh unfortunately a downside of the low resin content processes like pre-preg and resin infusion is that there is very very little resin on the surface to polish. Even a harsh cutting compound will cut too much away and not be able to bring the gloss back.

Only solution to get an even gloss finish again is to clear coat.
