I have broken a 2 inch section from the female end on one of my poles, the break is clean and mates quite well, this is the second such break, the section is getting shorter and replacement quite expensive as the pole is fairly old now.
Out of interest I wonder is this section can be repaired, and even lengthened slightly to get back to the original length.
I have a male section from another scrap section of pole which will fit and can be used as a "mandrel", and I have some of your Easy-Lease release agent and also High Shrink Tape.
I am thinking along the lines of:
Wrap the male section in releae tape, release side out, or coat male section with Easy-Release agent, insert male section, into the broken 2 inch female section, and then into the remaining female section.
Wrap a 6inch section of carbon, 2 inch above the break, down and over the break section, and over the male section by another 2 inch.
Wrap with Shrink tape, heat and leave to cure as normal.
Remove external Shrink Tape, remove male section, remove internal Shrink Tape if applied, sand and clean up the wrap, cut and tidy the end of the now newly extended female section.
Would this work, or am I likely to end up with the male section stuck, and if not would the repair be strong enough to use.
OR, is there a better way ??
