Has anyone converted a tyre compressor and made it into a vacuum pump to draw resin into a mould... would it be powerful enough?

No, venturies can't pull a full vacuum, they only reach about 27in/hg. Infusion needs very high vacuum to give good results, atleast 29.9in/hg.
