Hi
I am a Y3 university student in Liverpool. This year I have an individual project about adhesive composite T-joints. It is a project started at University of Michigan in U.S. My supervisor brought it to U.K. Because of short of the material of the carbon fiber fre-form, we need your help.

The company, which made the pre-form, we bought from is Albany International, NH, USA. The Pi-preform we use, is usually termed "pi-clip" in woven industry, and the one we use is the standard lockheed-martin patented clip with 0.18" insert and 2.74" width. Detailed dimensions are attached (it is not CFRP, it is just carbon fiber, more pictures are attached). Last time we bought it is in 2009, and they had no shipping restrictions, and could not get further from them. I am not sure your company can help me to make some or not. But if you have any information about this kind of pi-from please contact with me. Hope you can help us.

Thanks

Hi Zhengning Zhang,

It sounds like interesting research but that's a very specialist pre-form and not something that we could source our manufacture for you. Specifically, to be able to weave a pre-form like this would require specialist weaving equipment which we don't have.

Sorry we can't be more help and I wish you all the best with your project.
