I participate in the sport of Archery and in this modern world we use carbon arrows. These arrow shafts are of very high tolerance. To cut the shafts to length we use very high speed rotary saws. Similar to a Dremel but in a jig. Use of a traditional saw is not recommended by the manufacturers. My son has just purchased and expensive carbon fibre racing bicycle. To cut the seat post the manufacturer suggest a fine tooth hacksaw. Will this be OK? Many thanks.

Hacksaws will work fine if done properly. It is important to cut around the whole outside on the cut line before starting the main sawing work. This is to stop fibres ripping away from the tube and splintering as you cut through to the other side.
