How to measure strength of final FC product?

As I watch many tutorial videos that end with a demonstration of resistance to bending, I often see the strength being tested by a person standing on their product. This seems so unscientific and I would like to know what standardized tests are used to report on strength characteristics of different layup configurations. I will do some guessing and trials to see how strong is
"strong enough" for my needs, but any data would be helpful as I choose my first second and third stack-up.

Unless you are a large company or university etc then chances are you won't have access to the proper mechanical testing machines that can properly measure tensile strength, bending loads, sheer etc etc.   For most key mechanical data fields, there are set ISO or similar standards for testing these figures that specify testing tools, test token make up and shape, how to test etc.
