Hey um quick one here. So should I be resuing the clay I use to mold the parts? I am finding it is causing alligatoring on larger clay surfaces.

Some of my clay is 20 years old and I still use it. If you are talking about polyester gecoat and you get aligatoring the only causes that I can see are.

1. Hardener not mixed well enough. My rule is always always double cup.(mix well in one pot, pour into another and mix again before you spray)

2. The gelcoat is not thick enough. If not thick enough your first capture layer will dissolve the gelcoat and cause aligatoring.

3. Always use PVA on the clay to set up a barrier coat.

Hope this helps.
