Strengthening a fibre glass RC glider fuselage.

I have a radio controlled glider which has a fibre glass fuselage, it has a section which is prone to cracking.
I am considering strengthening of this area prior to assembly.
The area is approx 200mm long x 35mm in diameter, I am thinking of putting a carbon sock over the full length of the fuselage which is just short of 1m in length and varies in dia from 10mm to 35mm.
Would a carbon sock fit this variation in diameter and adhere to fibre glass.
Many thanks.

Hi Phil,

Are you able to get to the area's you need to re-enforce from the inside ?  I fly quite a few composite gliders  and generally find that if you put a layer of carbon and a layer of fg either 3/4 or 3 ounce in most areas it enough .... E.g for putting high power motors etc in the front noses, which have a tendency to screw off under load.

This type of re-enforcement isn't much good for DS type flying as they need to be re-enforced from the ground up.

Cheers,
Adrian
