Hi,
I'm a newbee in carbonfiber, I want to do some parts by it and I have a cnc machine to create the mould.

The cheapest material in access for me is wood, but I'm not sure if it is at all possible to use wood as mould material. Once I asked this from a carbonfiber seller on ebay and the answer was a big "No"!

I thought to write here may be somone may point me to a tutorial to turn wood to a mould or to teach me a material very cheap to use for mould and that I can put it under cnc.

My cnc machine can handle x=55cm, y=40cm, z=6cm, but untill now I only made things by wood and sometimes small aluminium shaft for hobby robots. I don't have access to aluminum for mould making.

Also sorry for my English, not native, may have mistakes.

Thank you.

Aluminium is quit expensive if you want to make a mould you need quit a big massive block of Aluminium Smile

Yeah but his mill is only small, so I don't think he's going to be machining massive slabs of anything Smile

Ally compared to good quality PU or epoxy model board isn't actually too expensive, especially when you take into account the time it would take to get a compareable surface finish by sealing lesser quality materials. Also if you have a part that is dimensionally critical you don't really want to start adding resin / sealer to it in uncontrollable quantities.
