+xI want to reinforce an existing semi-flexible part with carbon fiber and a core material to make it as rigid as possible. I would lay up a few layers of carbon fiber over the surface, then a core material and then more layers of carbon fiber. In order to achieve a good adhesion between the layers and especially the core material, I would put the part in a vacuum bag. Is it a good idea? Can I use Lantor Soric (2mm) as a core material? I see Lantor Soric is designed for resin infusion, but it seems epoxy can flow through it, but I am not sure.
Soric is great for infusion, but I would be afraid of leaving large voids in a hand layup. I would just use a foam designed to be used as a core. If you are going to vacuum bag the part anyway, the little extra effort to infuse it is well worth it.
