Hi,

i am making several CFRP plate using prepreg UD, vacuum bagging for testing according to standard for research purposes. Until now, i do not get clear solution to get the bag-face surface similar with tool face (glossy). I am using non-perforated release film, breather and bag after the laminate---oven cured with vacuum pressure. Any idea how to solve this? sanding and polishing? or any missing step? Please help me to achieve quality specimens.

you need to use a caul plate with a good release film like tygaflor if you are hoping to achieve gloss on both faces, or a closed tool as warren suggests.

Hi..thanks for the idea..i am preparing an Aluminium caul plate for this reason..just to clarify the arrangemnt...composite laminate-caul plate-perforated release film-breather-vacuum bag + breathable dam to cover all sides of compo plate...is that ok?

Why are you using perf release?
