Hi!

I need to coat a piezo element with epoxy in order to protect the soldered connections and the fragile sensor, as shown in picture 1.

I would prefer a clear flexible rather than rigid resin.

I was looking at :

> EPOXY COATING RESIN

> EF80 FLEXIBLE EPOXY RESIN

> CLEAR EPOXY GEL COAT

Which one do you recommend?

Hi Francesca,

My suggestion for this would be our ET515 Semi Flexible Epoxy Adhesive. It has a very high bond strength, is clear, cures quickly, has a medium viscosity and is classed (in adhesive terms) as semi flexible. It is actually quite hard but has a slight amount of flex; I'm not sure if this is enough flex for your requirements but it might be.

The other option would be the EF80 Flexible Epoxy Resin that Dave identified. This is a genuinly flexible epoxy so it would be the right choice if you want an almost rubber-like amount of flex in the cured resin.

The other two would be much too hard.

I hope this helps,

Matt
