Hello All,
I have access to a CNC mill with which I intend to mill out moulds using MDF.
I am aware of the issues regarding MDF swell and I'm looking into figuring out how to seal it and I have a few options.
1. Using a sanding sealer/shellac to seal the milled edges and then polish until as smooth as possible
2. Use Epoxy resin to infuse the milled edges and then polish until as smooth as possible once hardened
The third I am unsure about as to whether it will work
3. Using Epoxy tooling Gelcoat to seal the milled edges create the mould surface
I'm looking to make as precise a mould as possible without resorting to metals or plastics for mould creation(as the Mill i have access to is not super great as it is a DIY build)
I'm very new to all of this sort of stuff and would appreciate any comments or suggestions as to how to proceed with MDF if at all.
Thanks
