I have an abs plastic wheel arch liner for my car that I would like to take a mold from. I've read online that styrene based resins react with the ABS, is there any way around this such as suitable release agents? The part is not visible so surface finish isn't an issue.

They are abs. I'd go with the pva. Dust a light coat on with a spay gun and let it dry. Keep applying dust coats until you have an even blue coat then put down a few full film coats letting it dry between each coat. I then do a single coat of wax and grp just falls off!
