Why would UD appear dry after vac bagging?

I have just vac bagged 2 layers of UD onto the top of my bike frame, but when I debagged the frame, the UD appears as though it does not contain any resin and when I tried sanding it, it sort of sanded, but was quite stringy (hope that makes sense).

I thoroughly wetted out the 2 layers and also ensured the peel ply was wetted out that I put on top of the UD, but I did forget to put a layer of release film between the peel ply and the breather fabricl.  Would the breather material have soaked up all of the resin and caused the problem I mention?

Thanks

The breather will certainly have soaked up the resin - it in effect acts like a sponge; with a perforated release film and 20-25% vacuum level, you should restrict the amount soaked up only to any excess applied whilst laminating.

Ok Thanks.  I'll give it another shot with release film and reduced vacuum.
