I have always wanted to make carbon fiber running boards for my truck. I don't want to spend $640 US on step boards that are too close to the cab that when you step out, you only touch the outer part. I would much rather spend $650 and make my own from carbon.
The stock design is oval, but I want to make them the way I want them to look. I want a 6" wide with 2" of depth. They will be 80" long.
Would two C shaped pieces work best and then bond them together OR does anyone have any other ideas?

OK, that got me thinking. If I looked at it as if it were a bonnet- outer top layer(s) and then a grid like support skeleton with mounting fixtures laid in...........
