Hi, I have searched for help on this but with no luck, apologies if I missed it somewhere.

I am making a short Kevlar/CF tube which has bearing seats at each end. I have machined a nylon mandrel for this and (using PVA release) am wrapping 2 layers of 300g Kevlar Twill then some further layers of Kevlar/CF hybrid cloth and .

I've made a couple so far that are OK with everything just wet, but when I come to wind the cloth on its a terrible messy job and I'm getting small voids inside.

Can I put on an initial layer of epoxy (on the dry) PVAand let it tack up for several hours so that the mandrel will stick to the first layer of dry cloth then wet out on top (like in the fishing pole repair) or will the PVA just allow the tack layer to slip off the mandrel?

Thanks

George

Thanks for the quick reply. Had a go and it worked beautifully, so much easier than doing it all fully wet from first layer.
