Hello Guys.
doing my first steps with composites, i am experimenting with skinning car parts with carbon fiber.
i have a lot of questions to ask, so i apologize in advance for bombarding the forum with different subject Blush
so this is my first subject and few questions.
1. understanding that Epoxy is not UV stable. what is the downside of skinning parts with polyester resin (that i understand it is UV stable)?
2.how much UV stabuiletyis offered by the XCR resin? will it be stable enough and will not turn yellow over time if not clear coated?
Edit:
3. can this product be use as an alternative/replacement for clearcoat?

thank you Drasvis for the short but detailed explanation.
i will stick to epoxy, and will probably end up clear coating it.
i had bad results with my first try of clear coating, so i was checking the alternatives.
more sending, different products, and i'm starting to get better results.
i guess my first mistake was spraying at the wrong time.
painting in south florida this time of the year, is not the best idea (30c with close to 80% humidity).
so i dropped a portable AC unit in my garage and got better results at (25c with 55%h).
i'm going to open a new thread with my skiing experience, so please send all your "skinners" friends my way BigGrin
thanks again.
