Hi all,

I hope you enjoy this one; a new tutorial video - this one a bit more fun!

To demonstrate how you can work with sustainable (greener) materials like Biotex Flax and Jute, and our new formulation of the SuperSap resin system, in our latest tutorial we make a longboard (skateboard) using flax, SuperSap bio-resin, carbon fibre (of course!) and recycled pallet wood.

Finally, make sure you watch the (almost) closing sequence. This was quite a bit of fun filming this in the warehouse but it did cause a few of the staff to wonder just how tough it is 'at the top'!

Hi Fred,

How about a video using prepreg carbon fiber, a polished metal mold with a silicon intensifier.
No vacuum needed, no autoclave needed. Just an oven. I have been doing this lately and the parts are always pin hole free and as perfect as the polish on the mold. The fiber compaction is incredible. It absolutely compares to the stuff I make in my autoclave.  Many people have access to small cnc machines these days for making the metal molds. You could stock the blue expanding silicon which would be very useful. 



Yes, this is definitely a video we've had on the cards for some time. We cover some of this in our training course and provide some examples of parts that have been made in this way. Providing the mould is the right shape (as you know, you need fairly well contained shapes with a decent internal volume, rather than flatter shapes) then it can be very useful manufacturing process. We have also experimented with the right kind of silicones to maximise the CTE (coefficient of thermal expansion). I don't think it will be the next video we make but we have lots coming and I think it's likely this will be one of them.
