Hi! Have had alook at this forum and I am impressed! However I have a problem: I am making a kit car and the grill surround is missing - a fellow owners club member has lent me one (rare as hen's teeth) but Im frightened of ruining it by getting it stuck! I am going to try some work on simpler projects but was wondering if there's anyone would be willing to have a go at making a mould from the original and casting a new part from it?

Heres a pic of what it should look like...romero grille its the silver bit - the mesh I already have. As I say I do have an original but am scared to death of ruining it. I did go to a local grp fabricator but they wanted £150 to make the mould and £50 for the part - a bit pricey for a one off.

The part is about 50 cm tall and 30 wide and is basically U sectioned apart from teh top bit.

Hopefully someone will be able to help.

I think with you saying its a rare item, will put people off. If the GRP company want £150 for the mold of the item i think that is a good price, if you use a proper registered, insured company and they break it, they would either have to pay you for damages or find another one, unless you sing some sort of disclaimer.
