The "Moto-GP" Carbon brake rotors are like the ones used on cars .. They are "CC" or Carbon-Carbon" sintered material - The Axis CMC rotors are "Ceramic Matrix Carbon" a very different material that does not need to be hot to function like the CC MotoGP rotors -- So you can use them on road bikes as well -- If you are willing to pay - 
They are made by laying up carbon weave in a wet ceramic matrix, then baking the "cake" in a very hot oven under high pressure . Like making Clay pottery.. only a bit more "high tech"
The first two generations of CMC brake rotors were not strong enough in the thin dimensions used on bikes .. they are used in Hyper Sports Cars where the dimensions are much bigger /thicker
