Hello, i have used the hi-gloss pattern coat a while now. I use it with the spray cup gun and a #3 nozzle, and i thin the coat with about 10% acetone

I always get a bad result with lots of tiny high spots. But this morning I got a good result with a flat surface, but I dont understand why.

How do you do it, and what is the best way to apply it with a cup gun?

Normally we would recommend about 25% pure acetone to thin it down.  It may be the 10% you are using isn't enough for the set up you are spraying with.
  1. Start by spraying a 'mist coat' over the pattern. Wait 2-5 minutes for the solvents to evaporate.
  2. Pattern-Coat™ Hi-Gloss can be applied wet-on-wet but sufficient time must be left between passes (2-5 minutes) to allow time for the solvent to evaporate. Around 5 passes should leave a sufficient thickness of Hi-Gloss to ensure the surface can be properly flatted.
Also consider the working temperature and humidity can all play an effect on how it settles on the surface.  Even a slight rise in temperature of a few degrees might be enough to change the way it sprays.

For that reason we always recommend working at 20C where possible.
